I feel it can only get better as I launch off into the second book. This first instalment deals with the childhood of Temüjin, better known as Genghis Khan, before he became the infamous Great Khan of the Mongol peoples. That was risky and so far it seems to have paid off. Wolf of the Plains ( Genghis: Birth of an Empire in the US) is the first part of a planned six-part series by British author Conn Iggulden depicting the rise and fall of the Mongol Empire. This is the first of Iggulden's books I have read. He had more than one reason to lash out at them. If you like Conqueror Series Collection: Wolf of the Plains. The book follows Genghis completion of the consolidation of the disparate Mongol tribes and subsequent campaigns against the Western Xia and Jin empires. His attitude towards his mother's home tribe and the decision he makes regarding them.they can't say he was not pushed toward that action. Lords of the Bow is the second book of the Conqueror series, based on the life of Mongol warlord Genghis Khan by Conn Iggulden. The campfire scene will stay with me for a while. The story is quickly paced and downright savage in many areas.as to be expected. This book focuses on his early life and the lives of those around him.

By taking and blowing up possible events in Temujin's life we get a sense of what possibly shaped and molded him into the stone cold tactician and warrior that history tells us he was. But what the author does.and he does it very effectively is structure a life and give this intriguing figure a face and personality to guide us.

It could very well be true, we just don't know. Too often Hollywood will give us a horrendously illiterate account of Genghis Khan.

The author takes a historical figure that has limited documentation and makes him shine. I have to give Iggulden some credit here.
